MUSHes and Graphics

This is not a post about bringing graphics to MUSHes in the way of 3D virtual worlds or MMOs... but rather how graphics are used to supplement MUSH resources, in particular on webpages.

Obviously text is the primary mode of communication on MU*... it allows our imaginations to run wild and create an individual representation of what we've read. In a very real sense each player has a completely different world in their mind while experiencing the same MUSH. However, humans are very visual creatures and we love visual representations of the things in our imaginations. I would say the vast majority of us have at least attempted to capture the images in our heads on paper. Unfortunately, artistic ability is not always something that comes naturally to many of us.

So... I am curious, how many of those who frequent c.p.o have found themselves wishing they had a resource for acquiring good looking graphical resources for their game or character websites? (read on)

MUSHCode.net Code Repository

After entirely too long I have finally pushed the initial implementation of the MUSHCode.net code repository into public usage. It is still very basic and utilitarian, with some features not yet implemented, but based on feedback from the community I will work on a priority list for implementing those features, as well as what the demand is for implementing similar functionality for the game listing and converting the lecture logs/tutorials and resources to using a similar repository structure to allow community contributions.

Big dreams, Little time

Many of us have had big dreams we've wanted to accomplish. Some have been solely for personal gratification other to gain the attention or respect of others. Whatever the case, I would think it safe to say that many of these dreams never achieve a place in reality. The reasons can be myriad, but I would bet that the number one reason is lack of time.

New PennMUSH services!

After far too long of a wait, I am happy to announce that we have added two new services that will be of use to game owners running PennMUSH.

PennMUSH Web Resources

I've been thinking about this for a while, and already have some ideas and plans, but it would be nice to hear thoughts from the community at large...

Are there any resources beyond those we currently have available that people would like to see on the pennmush websites? Any improvements to what currently exists? I feel community.pennmush.org is underutilized and could fill many of the possible needs of users. However, it may help to have feedback from the users so that we can highlight the features people are looking for but may not be aware of, as well as look at what is lacking and inves

Todo or not Todo...

I've been thinking about my PennMUSH todo list lately... and trying to organize my thoughts and priorities for it. Among the things I would like to accomplish are:

* Clean, stand-alone MinGW support on Win32.
* @mail side-effect functions. (Needs to be polished...)
* MXP Support to replace Pueblo. (Slotted for 1.8.1)
* Help clean up text markup handling (Goes along with MXP)
