The Road to Amber MUSH

It's been a while since I posted, and I just realized that I never did post information on my current game.

It's The Road to Amber MUSH, set at the end of the second book of Roger Zelazny's Amber chronicles.

We've passed our six-month mark since opening and things feel like they're going pretty well. What's surprised me is the number of newbies -- people with minimal or no previous MUSH experience. The hobby is not yet dead!

Great news.

That's great news. You're using FATE for mechanics, right? How's that working out?

Nope, an original system.

Nope, an original system. It's working out pretty well. It's a moderate-complexity system -- certainly easier than Storyteller, for instance -- but its "something new to learn" nature was a hurdle at game start. Now it seems like newbies clear chargen without needing to ask too many questions.

It's highly flexible, which is kind of a love/hate things. People who want predictable, well-known paths to power, and/or want to know their opponents's likely capabilities, tend to dislike it. People who want to be really distinct, or who are more 'discover as you play' types, tend to like it.

The game is unusual in that its primary Bartle type catered to is the Explorer (albeit wrapped in the usual roleplay MUSH trappings).
