I think I have the slowest development staff in MUSH history. And for this, I am thankful. They're taking their time, doing it right. Globals systems, thematics, everything is being hammered out now, before the first room is @dug, so that nothing needs changed.
System by system, the 'todo' list fills up with massive projects, then smaller ones underneath it.
My opening day is projected at November 2003, according to the MOTDs. In reality, its January 1st, 2004. On midnight, the IC clock will start ticking away, and the game universe will come alive. By mid-morning EST, the first battle should of happened in the background, the media reports out.
I like my admin team. I'm happy that things are being done right, and slowly, and not the hurried nonsense I see everywhere else. Things break, they die, things aren't built and poof, someone says 'We're IC!' and nothing works.

I agree, too, about taking one's time in development. The MUSH I head, I took 1 year to develop (in which I was also learning to code), and we're doing 1 full year of Alpha test. I do not regret it and neither will you. I've seen far too many MUSHes slapped up quickly with no quality, and they fail pretty quickly. Good luck, and I'll meet you in HeadWIZ Anyonymous, some day. :)

We've suffered quita a few problems, but we're still on track. We'll open before January, I believe.

Better idiots
Don't rush to it. People always told me to open fast, but I didn't. As a result, we have a pretty stable MU* and a good playerbase, albeit small. I might post/blog what steps I took in designing it.
Go at the pace that is best for you, the head, not at what others tell you. I've been watching a new MU* where the head Wiz was inexperienced and did no research, opened too fast, made all the mistakes that others have made, and now, only 4 months after opening for Beta, is experiencing a downslide normally scene in a 1-yr old MUSH.
So, take it at your speed, and make sure your foundations are firm. :)
