text file entries
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the text files [i.e.news/help] to format the way I want them to the first time, and or are there any editors out there that would do this?

Turn off word-wrap in your editor. Use a text editor not a word-processor. You may need to convert DOS line terminators to LINUX line terminators if your OS is Windows, although most FTP programs do this for you if you use text transfers and not binary transfers. Most important of those is turning off word-wrap in your editor. Unless you do that you'll have no way of seeing how the text will look when displayed in help/news/etc. If your editor supports displaying a guideline in the 80th column use that option. But generally it's wise to not have lines greater than 78 characters wide. A line of text wrapped by a mush client at 80 characters and also wrapped in a windowed display at 79 characters looks exceedingly ugly.
