MUSH from the Ground Up

I am totally new to the MU* community. While I have known about MU* since I got on the Internet, it was just recently that I got an interest in MU* as a cool way to create, build, and tell stories. I spent a couple of days checking out a lot of the available games and reading a lot of the available documentation. One thing I quickly noticed was that there wasn't a lot of up to date documentation. I came up with a project that will help me learn all about running a MUSH and help anyone who wants to setup and run a MUSH later.

This will be a four part series documenting making a MUSH from the ground up:

  • Part 1: Installing a Server: The steps required to get a MUSH running and available for people to connect to.
  • Part 2: Building: How to make your server into a world. This will be a step by step guide about building my house in a MUSH server environment.
  • Part 3: Coding: How to add logic to your world. This will be a guide for how to use Softcode.
  • Part 4: Admin: How to keep your host, your server, your world up and running for a long time to come.
